Unfortunately looking back on last year’s goals, I didn’t accomplish a ton of them. It’s been a bit of a hectic year but apparently all of them are so that’s little excuse. This year did involve us moving house though with all the accompanying… what word am I looking for? Not headache, not wasted time, not frantic mess, but shifted priorities. And some headache and frantic mess admittedly. This upcoming year is an unknown quantity as well as there will be the addition of a fourth small individual to the family in a little over a month, but on the other hand all 3 older kids will be in physical school all day so I have no clue what my writing time is going to look like. Anyway, on to sections!
Writing
I’m 60k words into the 2nd draft of Astronautica. And that puts me at approximately, looking at my rough outline, halfway through. But that doesn’t mean I’m looking at a final finished product of 120k words; honestly from reading through what I’ve written and talking with my writing group, there’s going to need to be a lot of fleshing out in much of what I’ve written thus far. So I’m anticipating this is going to be quite a hefty novel. On the other hand, it’s an epic; that does somewhat come with the territory.
My other writing has not been utterly barren but it has been sparse; I’ve polished up a short story or two and submitted to several contests, mostly since January, but nothing has placed yet. The paying market for my stories appears sparse but that might be timing so I keep checking back.
Also I have started on the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure section of the website but until there’s more in it, it’s hidden in the construction zone. It’s fun but very different and also I want illustrations on it so it’s taking some time.

Career
Not much new to put here either. The website has been chugging along; I’ve only been late once and that was last week. No new sections, not a lot of views though I finally got the spam filter working correctly so that’s off my plate. I did have my first Octoberfest of poems and that was fun; hopefully I’ll be able to do something similar this year.
Goals for Next Year
Very similar to last year;
-Finish draft 2 of Astronautica
-Following that, either start draft 3 or switch back to Chasing Stars, we’ll see which at the time.
-Continue short story publication attempts
-Have Choose-Your-Own-Adventure section viewable and maybe even get a good name for it by this time next year.
