I found you in the clearance aisle,
Alone with drooping stem.
I thought a plant would make me smile
And I could perk you up again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And so I brought you home, small plant,
And put you in the sun.
I watered you, dreamed you elegant,
And googled instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don’t know if there’s too much light
Or water or too little.
Or maybe the cats took a bite-
Well, maybe twenty nibbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still, after a few months or so
Your drooping leaves turned brown.
I was so sad to let you go,
But plucked you from the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have several houseplants still,
And a good few seem to thrive;
Still I think it’s not my will
But theirs that they survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If a green thumb’s what I’ve got,
It defies the other nine;
The key here is bring home a lot
And some will grow just fine.
